Paper Pumpkin Alternates – Use Envelopes in Your Designs

Making Paper Pumpkin alternates is my favorite part of this monthly crafting kit from Stampin’ Up! The envelopes can become beautiful cards.
Bag of Bones is a Heap of Fun!
These stamps are big boned
I have had a blast this past month or so playing with the “Bag of Bones” stamps and die set from Stampin’ Up! It is part of the “Them Bones” suite which also features some really striking Designer Series Paper (DSP) as well as Specialty Paper that is Glow-in-the-Dark! You can stamp on it with a permanent ink such as Staz-On, or die cut it to create one-of-a-kind embellishments. I ended up making a ton of cards. Now I need to send some out before Halloween arrives.

What I love most about the stamp and die set is that you get one full skeleton, and then a torso and head with a crapload of individual arms and legs in various poses. So you can stamp a skeleton in one step or five, depending on how much control you want to have. The skeleton on the left of this card is the full one, and the skeleton on the right, I put together. I also used the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder.
The individual bones enabled me to pose this super cool skeleton to look like he is actually driving that motorcycle.
No legs needed for this card. Another benefit to having the skeleton pieces.
I love all the "characters" you can make with the die cut hats, shoes, and such. Like this showstopping skeleton who craves the spotlight.
I used a stencil and white ink to do the stars, and a stone embossing folder for the mausoleum door. Also stamped the skeleton in gray which is interesting.
It's amazing how much character a simple hat can add. 🙂

I love the pun in this. It's my kind of Dad humor.
In addition to stamping and cutting the skeletons, there are two sheets of skeletons in the Designer Series Paper that are perfectly sized to work with the dies. These two are cut from the DSP.
I decided that my favorite "result" is embossing the skeleton in white powder on black card stock. It looks the coolest, I think. Did I mention there are skeleton pets?! Aren't they cute?
I cut everything from the Glow-in-the-Dark specialty paper. I had to use Staz-On ink to stamp because regular ink just smeared no matter how long I left it to dry.
I love these guys so I had to give them their own card. Plus, there's a lot of glow-in-the-dark on this card. Check out the next picture.
I cut the stone out of glow-in-the-dark paper and then stamped the sentiment on vellum and adhered it on top hoping it would glow through. (see next picture)
It worked! Vellum lets enough light in so that it does not cancel out the glow-in-the-dark aspect.

I created this fancy fun fold card for a class. I love how it turned out.

This is my first 5x7 card. I loved having the larger "canvas" to work on.
