Paper Pumpkin 2023 Gallery
Hello, and welcome to my 2023 Paper Pumpkin Gallery. These cards and other miscellaneous paper crafting items were all made with the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits from Stampin’ Up! I almost always start by making one each of the included design that month (Kit Card) and then I start doing my own thing and creating my own designs. They are called alternates or alternative designs. I hope you enjoy. Click here for more information on Paper Pumpkin and how to subscribe.

For this card I matted half a base card onto Blueberry Bushel card stock. I embossed the flowers in yellow (Stamp-n Stuff) and matched it with yellow from the Sheer Ribbon Combo Pack. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Dandelion Wishes. If you're a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and have that stamp set, break it out. You won't believe how perfectly they go together. This card is just so HAPPY to me.
These are the kit projects. They have little bags in which you can put treats.
I combined this month and last month's kit for this card.
I created the background for this one by simply stamping snoflakes in white ink onto Night of Navy cardstock. I also included a tree from last month's kit.
I blended the background for this one. I'm not sure how I feel about there not actually being a house behind the door. But I really like how the coloring came out, so maybe it's avant-garde, I don't know. 🙂
I used a starry sky background from one of Stampin' Up!'s retired papers (Enjoy the Journey) and then stamped the santa and reindeer silhouette from last year's Christmas Paper Pumpkin. It worked so well with this kit, I used it multiple times.
Background is another paper from the retired "Enjoy the Journey" set. Suddenly, we have moutainside houses. This is a bigger card, 5x7, which works so well with the big houses from this kit.
Another mountainside house card... but in green! Again, I used the incredible silhouette stamp from last year and it works so well.

My first alternate. I created the background using the Snowflake Sky embossing folder, then rubbing over it lightly with white ink.
I cut up one of the envelopes (pictured) to create this card. I also used the Stampin' Up! online exclusive Elegant Border Dies.
I used a cut file to create the box and then embellished it with this month's designs.
I changed up the design a little, and added the Santa and reindeer silhouette stamp from last year's kit. It's so perfect for these cards.
I used the Santa silhouette from last year's kit here, and colored the house with Stampin' Blends. I also used the glitter glue around the circle for some extra bling!
I used a card from the kit as the background along with Stampin' Up!'s Night Divine dies I love how it turned out.
Alternate card and bag. I stamped a eucalptus "shadow" on the bag and made the card match.

I used an old SU embossing folder for the card and cut open one of the envelopes for the card front. It's tied with copper ribbon. I love this!!
After I realized this stamp was a pumpkin and not a flower (duh!) I tried it on the green card stock and loved how it retained its orange color.
This layout of the eucalyptus with the pumpkins is the same layout as the front of he box. 🙂
Another one where I use the stunning envelopes as a focal point.
I love how opaque the colors are and how well the Lost Lagoon and Copper Clay go together for autumn.
This and its "sister" card are my favorites. The colors blow me away.
Hi, I'm the "Sister" card.

Kit Card #2 (die cut exposed)
I basically cut the inside of the card base and mounted it to a new card stock base.
I cut up an envelope and used the inside as the backing for this card. That's lots and lots of forget-me-nots!
The envelope I cut up.
I had this impressionist Designer Series Paper left over from a Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration a few years ago and it went perfectly with the bonus stamp set this month. I used a die cut from the kit for this card and embossed the sentiment onto it.
Another with the impressionist Designer Series Paper. I stamped the lotus flowers and fussy cut them.
A set of note cards featuring the forget-me-nots. I cut up envelopes to make these.

I knew the second I saw this sentiment that it was one I would probably be using. A lot! 🙂
For this card (and the one before this) I recreated the 3D scene on a flat card using foam Dimensionals instead.
This is the third card card that I recreated the 3D scene on.
I created the background with Melon Mambo ink and blending brushes. Also, the crab is on a little spring so he wobbles back and forth. 🙂
This was created just piecing elements together. I embossed the sun using a "distress" embossing powder to give it that aged look I love so much.
This turned out to be a great retirement card I think.
A 5 x 5" card. I've been playing around with this size because I like the large square "canvas" I have to work with.

I made Boho Blue the primary color here with a more Grecian urn type feel to it. I used a lot of masking on this card. 🙂
This is more of a traditional alternate. I used mostly stuff from the kit, plus some Cajun Craze card stock and the Deckled Edges Dies.
More of the earth tones from the '23-25 In Colors collection, specifically Moody Mauve, Boho Blue, and Copper Clay. I love the combination.
Three of the four background strips on this card are designer series paper, but one is actually stamped. Can you tell which one? This is why color coordination is so cool. (The one with flowers is stamped.) 🙂

1 of 6: This was the card that started my "series." 🙂 I cut one of the bases in half and used the back for the front of this card. The boot is colored with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.
2 of 6: This was the front of the first card base I cut. I embossed just the coffee at the top of the mug to give it a little shine. After doing this card and seeing how cool it looked with its partner, I decided to do the same for the other two bases. So in the end I'd have 6 cards. A series!!!
Cards 1 and 2 illustrating how they used to be one card base.
3 of 6: The back of the second card base. I used leaves from an older Paper Pumpkin and added a few adhesive dots for fun.
4 of 6: The front of the second card base. This one is almost identical to its partner, just with the binoculars die cut instead of the compass.
Cards 3 and 4 showing how they used to be one card base.
5 of 6: The back of the third and final card base. I went back to my beloved boot and colored it with Stampin' Blends again. I added some matching ribbon and stamped some birds in the sky.
6 of 6: The back of the third card base and the last in the series. Similar to its partner but with a different color ribbon. I liked using the sentiment labels as the base for the boot. It helps it stand out.
Cards 5 and 6 and once again showing how they used to be just one card base.
My first alternate that wasn't a part of the series. I made the label from a scrap piece of paper I had rubbed ink on after the baby wipe technique. The colors just matched so well I had to use it. Then I built a little collage around it. I love collages.

The first alternate I made. I fussy cut around the flowers to create the card "edge". (The blue is actually the inside of the card.)
This alternate was made entirely with items in the kit.
I love the foil accents on these die cut pieces.
Another card that only used items in the kit. There were a lot of pieces with this kit. No need to add many extras.
I cut up an envelope to create the "diamond" effect. I like the branch horizontal.
I put the blue piece of card stock behind the leaves die cut and I love the way it created a type of dotted border.

An alternate designed by Paper Pumpkin to feature the extra free stamp set this month.
Alternate #1
One of my alternates, using only supplies that came with the kit. Nothing extra added.
I cut out the bookcase and put it on a Coastal Cabana card base.
I think this is my favorite alternate. The ferns were made with blending brushes and ink through the punched-out negative. Stampin' Blends alcohol markers were used to color the flowers.
The label ended up looking like a flower box. Pretty cool.

I made this card entirely with kit contents.
I stamped the frogs on this one in different shades of green and cut them with the add-on dies. It represents me and my two best buddies.
This card is all about layers. There are 4 of them! I created the clouds by sponging white ink through the negative space from the clouds that came with the kit.
This card is 4x4". (I made a matching envelope to fit it.) I really like how the sentiment looks stamped directly on the rainbow paper.
What started out as a shaker card turned into some other concoction which I've dubbed "Flip Top Tabletop Shaker Card." Read all about it in my blog post, "It's the Thickest Card I Ever Made!"
I made this (and its sister card) months later when I came across these pieces of gingham card stock. The colors made me think they'd make great baby cards. It's also a reminder that you can use your "Beautiful Balloons" stamps for more than just birthdays.
Read the description over the blue baby card, aka this one's brother. (See what I did there? Wink, wink.)
These are the three cards that came with the kit.

I love using watermark ink on card stock for a perfectly subtle background.
I used the "key hole" that punched out from one of the card bases as well as the inside liner of one of the envelopes.
I used the liner from an envelope to create the background, and then embossed keys on it with copper embossing powder.
I used the key hole pop out again on this card, but turned it upside down to become a vase. I like the concept, but the flower bundle (from a previous Paper Pumpkin) is too small I think.
This card is my favorite alternate. I die cut swirls from gold paper and glued them to the front of the vase. The flowers die cut is from a previous Paper Pumpkin. And the background is done with the Painted Texture embossing folder.
I love how this turned out! The keys and locks are embossed in copper and backed by Copper Foil Sheets. I cut the card front from one of the kit cards and adhered it to a Calypso Coral base. And it’s a love story, the way the key and lock “find” each other.
Look, I made a shaker card!
