Steve’s Blog » Making “Rustic Harvest” Cards from Leftovers
As I type this post, I’m sitting in front of my open window with the cool breeze blowing in on me, getting ready to watch my Superbowl champion Los Angeles Rams play on this beautiful Sunday. Ahh! Don’t you just love autumn? Happy fall, ya’ll!
You know what else I love? Making cards after I’ve finished teaching a class. I always try to have at least one extra kit on hand, whether for a last-minute attendee or to pull bits from in case of mishaps. Plus, there are sections I create while demonstrating techniques in class, extra pieces I cut in case someone makes a mistake, and various elements I created while in the design phase that never made it onto the final cards. When I’m finished teaching a class, I take all of these surplus goodies and I go to town!
Here are the five cards that the students made in class.
It featured the “Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper” from the Stampin’ Up! 2022 Jun-Dec Mini Catalog.
I made my first easel card with this paper, and then showed everyone how to make it in class. It’s such a fun fold and can work with any paper or theme.
And now the cards I made with my “leftovers.” I just loved the paper on my easel card so much, and I thought the flowers could work anytime, not just for autumn, so I made another one with a Mother’s Day sentiment.
These two leaves were from when I was designing the cards. I tried different sentiments and styles before landing on the repeated “Happy Thanksgiving” sentiment in my class card. Leftover leaves… two more cards!
I also loved the pumpkins and gourds in the one paper, so I tried different uses for that. I liked fussy cutting out the shapes for class the best. I ended up cutting out a lot of those suckers, though, when I was playing around, so I piled them on the second card below.
This last card was created to utilize all my leftover “f-a-l-l” letters. They were stamped and cut using the Alphabest Stamp Set and Best Label Punch from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.
That’s it. And the sentiment on the last card is the perfect way to end this post, wishing you all a very happy fall. I hope you enjoyed these cards, and they inspired you to create something fun and festive. Feel free to leave a comment or question below. Until next time, my lovelies, have a wonderful autumn season, and keep on crafting! -Steve
