Create Striking Cards with the Thankful Garden Decorative Masks

Create striking cards with the Thankful Garden Decorative Masks from Stampin' Up!

A Happy Anniversary card and the Thankful Garden decorative masks used to create it.

The Thankful Garden Decorative Masks are one of the latest in a recent release trend for Stampin’ Up! Namely, layering masks that enable you to create spectacular ink-blended flowers and other designs! In addition to these, they have the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks available and a new set that will be released in September (2025) called Snowy Delights Decorative Masks which create ink-blended snowflakes!

Bundle It or Go it Alone

The Thankful Garden Masks are part of the Thankful Garden bundle, which includes stamps and dies. (pictured below) But I’m using just the masks today to show how beautifully they work alone.

First Card Details

This first card uses both flowers and both leaves that come with the masks. The flowers each have three layers of ink and the leaves each have two. (Colors are below.) After I created the flowers, I fussy cut them. The Thankful Garden Dies will also do this for you, and a lot quicker and easier, that’s for sure! 🙂

Here are the ink colors I used for this card:

  • Big Flower: Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, and Gorgeous Grape
  • Small Flowers: Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, and Calypso Coral
  • Big Leaves: Mossy Meadow and Old Olive
  • Small Leaves: Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist

I finished it off with a little Wink of Stella on the big flower.

Same Design, Different Colors

This card is the same design as the previous one, but with different colors for the flowers:

  • Big Flower: Bubble Bath, Pretty in Pink, Cherry Cobbler
  • Small Flowers: Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wheat
  • Big Leaves: Mossy Meadow, Old Olive
  • Small Leaves: Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist

Just the Small Flowers

Here is another card I made with just the small flowers. I ink-blended them directly onto a white panel piece (5 1/4 x 4″) then created an extra flower, fussy cut it out, and added it over the other two with Dimensionals for some… well, dimension. Before that, though, I used Masking Paper to cover the flowers and leaves on the card and do ink splatters on the background with the same color inks. (White space scares me!) Summer Splash was my choice for the card base to match the leaves. And voila! A sweet, cheerful card. The color combination here, with these particular shades of purple and green, is one I really love.

Flowers: Fresh Freesia, Bubble Bath, Gorgeous Grape

Leaves: Summer Splash, Shy Shamrock

Time Consuming but Worth It

This one is a little different and, not gonna lie, was quite time-consuming. Instead of creating the full flower separately, I did multiple ones on the background of this card.  I omitted the leaves, and used dots to fill in the space between, and ended up with this kind of 1960s, retro, psychedelic look. And yet… I like it. Don’t ask me why. 🙂 I added some ephemera pieces from the Stampin’ Up! sets “Labels and Layers” and “Saying Something.” (see supply list below) It’s on a yellow (Lemon Lolly) card base.

Flowers: Bubble Bath, Petal Pink, Berry Burst
