Hi, I’m Steve. My love of crafting really began with my mom who used to belong to a monthly club where she’d get a project in the mail to put together each month. My sister and I would always help, and the projects would be all over the house for us to enjoy and appreciate. Personally, I have loved taking pictures and making photo albums ever since I was in high school. In the early 2000s, I wandered into the scrapbooking section in Michaels and felt like I had entered Narnia. I was instantly hooked. It wasn’t long before I was scrapbooking every free chance I could get. Then in 2005, the stars aligned unexpectedly enabling me to purchase a scrapbook store in Northridge, California, that was going out of business called Scrappers’ Corner. I only owned it a couple of years, but I have so many wonderful memories from that time. Especially the classes I taught, and the Friday midnight crops. They were always a fun time, and I met some amazing people in this crazy, loving, supportive world of crafting. I’ve continued scrapbooking for fun over the years. Mostly pages with or about my son who was born in 2007. I’ve also dabbled in other areas of paper crafting; card-making, mini-albums, art journaling, and home décor have all become favorites of mine. But I’ve been doing it alone. The desire to teach again and reconnect with other creative souls has been strong in me for a while. For the past 25 years I’ve worked in Postproduction, specifically in the field of Localization and Accessibility; subtitling, foreign language dubbing, closed captioning, and audio description. It’s a job I love but it has not afforded me the freedom to realistically consider pursuing a profession in crafting. Then everything changed in 2020. For all of us. Long story short, I decided to move forward with my dream of opening a crafting café. It will be a place where people who love to craft can come hang out with other people who love to craft. It will be a refuge. It will be a sanctuary. It will be an asylum, I’m sure, on many days. And hopefully it will be home. Steve’s Crafting Café… where makers meet. To help me jump-start my new dream, I’ve become a Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator. I’m so excited about this. In scrapbooking, some of my favorite things to use are inks, stamps, dies, and stencils. So naturally I fell in love with Stampin’ Up! and their extraordinary products as soon as I started using them. They’re a fantastic organization and have made it so easy for me to get back into the crafting world. So, take a look around my website. Make sure to get on my mailing list for updates, specials, and promotions, as well as local classes and crops at my house. Or just say “hi”. I’d love to meet you. Most of all, carve out some time for crafting in your life. Be a maker and share that creative spirit with others. We need more of us in this world. Keep on crafting, Steve
